327 Teachers Flunk Georgia Test

ATLANTA — State school officials said today that 327 active teachers failed the teacher certification test after as many as nine tries and will be barred from teaching as the school year begins.
A total of 461 teachers failed the test, a prerequisite for renewing teaching certificates, when it was administered Aug. 1, the last testing date before the certificates expire Aug. 31. But state School Supt. Werner Rogers said 132 of them were not employed by school systems last year, meaning that only 327 active teachers were unsuccessful in meeting the requirement.
