Former goaltender Vladislav Tretiak will become the first Soviet athlete to appear in a television commercial when deodorant ads filmed with hockey star Wayne Gretzky are shown on Canadian networks Nov. 8.
Payment for Tretiak was negotiated through the Soviet Sports Committee, which received the money.
