In “Father Knows Best” in the 1950s, Robert Young was the parent with all the answers. In “Marcus Welby, M.D.” in the ‘70s, he also had a remedy for most problems.
But in “Conspiracy of Love,” a new TV movie airing Sunday on CBS (9-11 p.m., Channels 2 and 8), he runs into a stonewall: an ex-daughter-in-law who gets a restraining order to keep him from seeing his granddaughter.
Drew Barrymore (pictured with Young on the cover) plays the tomboy girl who’s charmed by her grand-father’s embellished stories of past greatness.
Glynnis O’Connor is the mom who seeks to keep the two apart, feeling the old man is a bad influence on her daughter. And Elizabeth Wilson is caught in the middle as the grandmother.
