A North Korean official said his country will await the outcome of South Korean presidential elections, set for December, before deciding whether to compete in the 1988 Summer Olympics at Seoul.
Jin Chung Guk, vice president of the North Korean Olympic Committee, said in Geneva that Juan Antonio Samaranch, president of the International Olympic Committee, had agreed to North Korea’s request to delay further talks on sharing the Games with its southern neighbor until January.
