Le L’Argent Holds Off Luisant for Oak Tree Victory

Le L’Argent rallied to take the lead in the stretch and then held off fast-finishing Luisant to win the $65,600 Cascapedia Handicap by 1 lengths before a crowd of 18,010 Wednesday at Santa Anita’s Oak Tree meeting.
Le L’Argent, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and carrying co-high weight of 118 pounds, ran seven furlongs in 1:22 1/5 and paid $7.60, $3.20 and $3.
The victory was worth $38,600, boosting Le L’Argent’s career earnings to $466,075. The 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of What A Pleasure has won 6 of 10 starts this year and 10 of 26 starts in her career.
Luisant, the 4-5 favorite as an entry with Prankstress and ridden by Laffit Pincay , crossed the finish line 1 3/4 lengths in front of Lovers Native and returned $2.40 and $2.20.
Lovers Native, a 16-1 longshot ridden by Rafael Meza, was a nose in front of Prankstress at the wire and returned $3.60 to show.
Following Prankstress across the finish line were Joni U Bar, Balladry, Chick Or Two and Sari’s Heroine.
