Gottfried Scores 18 to Lead Athletes in Action

Guard Mark Gottfried scored 18 points as Athletes in Action began its basketball season by beating Azusa Pacific, 109-78, Tuesday night at Azusa.
Wally Rank scored 16 and Michael Wiley 15 for AIA, which is based in Carlsbad. Bill DesRochers had a game-high 23 points for Azusa.
AIA plays at UC Riverside tonight and at Point Loma Nazarene College Thursday.
