Typhoon Death Toll Hits 438

LEGASPI, Philippines — The death toll from Typhoon Nina climbed to 438 today as rescue workers prepared to airlift food and medicine to survivors in coastal villages demolished by a storm. Combined reports from relief agencies, the church, the military and the official Philippine News Agency showed at least 438 people killed, 47 missing and 490 injured. More than 200,000 people were either rendered homeless, evacuated or lost their sources of income.
