Ryan, a member of the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council since the city’s incorporation in 1973, has served twice before as mayor and has been a resident of the community since 1970. He is an engineer at Northrup.
Bacharach, a self-described “government activist,” also serves on the Los Angeles County Transportation Committee, the Southern California Assn. of Governments executive committee and is president of the California Elected Women’s Assn. for Education and Research.
Ryan and Bacharach said in interviews after the meeting that the two biggest issues facing the city in the coming year are the development of the Marineland site and the city’s need to raise revenue for capital improvements such as road repairs.
