Fujitsu America Inc., continuing an expansion of its U.S. research and development capabilities, has acquired certain assets of Intelligent Storage, Inc., of Longmont, Colo., for an undisclosed sum.
The U.S. engineering design firm will become part of a new Fujitsu company called Intellistor, which will specialize in the design of computer controllers and high performance interfaces for disk and tape drives.
“The acquisition stems from a two-year strategic relationship between Fujitsu America and Intelligent Storage, and will significantly enhance the breadth of Fujitsu America’s computer storage products research and development efforts,” said Masaka Ogi, president of Fujitsu America, the largest North American subsidiary of Japan’s leading computer maker.
