Gorbachev’s ‘New Thinking’
I was closely watching an interview with Gorbachev on TV (Dec. 1). A question arose--Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Consequently that reminded me of a liberal movement in Czechoslovakia. This movement was crushed by a Russian invasion in the summer of 1968. I was then 9 years old living in Prague and vividly remember the tanks, the shooting, the fear . . . the hatred. Now, 19 years later the Soviet troops are still there. A question arises--Mr. Gorbachev, when will you remove your troops from Czechoslovakia and let this country be free?
