Pittsburgh Mayor Leaves Hospital With Pacemaker

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Mayor Richard S. Caliguiri, who suffers from a rare and incurable disease, checked out of Shadyside Hospital on Wednesday following a pacemaker implant and said he plans to be on the job next week. Doctors implanted the pacemaker to correct an irregular heartbeat caused by amyloidosis, an often fatal disease diagnosed in March.
