Robertson to Accept U.S. Funds

WASHINGTON — Pat Robertson suddenly changed course today and decided to take the $4.5 million in federal matching funds due his Republican campaign on the first workday of the new year.
The former television evangelist had thrown a monkey wrench into the money machine Tuesday, making an unprecedented request to the Federal Election Commission to delay sending him the money, claiming that he is opposed to government financing of campaigns and that he would like to not take the money.
