PCAA Roundup : Utah State Holds Off New Mexico State Rally, 53-52

Dan Conway scored 12 points and Utah State survived a late rally to beat New Mexico State, 53-52, and remain undefeated in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. Saturday night at Logan, Utah.
Jeff Anderson’s two free throws gave Utah State (9-4 overall, 4-0 in the PCAA) a 53-47 lead with 39 seconds left.
Keith Hill’s three-pointer and Johnny Roberson’s basket weren’t enough for New Mexico State (9-7, 2-2). New Mexico State led, 36-27, with 15:45 left, but Utah State regained the lead with a 17-4 run.
Willie Joseph scored 14 for New Mexico and Roberson added 13. Kevin Nixon added 10 points and 7 rebounds for Utah State.
Fresno State 74, Pacific 65--Mike Mitchell had 16 points and 8 rebounds as the Bulldogs downed the Tigers at Stockton.
Pacific (5-8) held a 35-33 halftime lead, but Fresno (4-8) took the lead for good, 48-47, on Kevin Stephenson’s layup.
Christian Gray scored 32 points for Pacific.
