A young man has been arrested on suspicion of killing a 78-year-old man last summer and an 87-year-old woman last week during robberies at the victims’ South Los Angeles homes, police said Tuesday.
Ahmad Thomas, 19, was being held without bail pending arraignment on two counts of murder and two counts of robbery in connection with the slayings of his two neighbors, Detective J. D. Furr said.
Thomas allegedly killed Paul Ona, 78, in July and Josie Jones, 87, last Thursday, Furr said. Both were repeatedly stabbed during robberies at their homes in the 700 block of East 54th Street, where Thomas also lives.
Furr said information from neighbors combined with previous information led to Thomas’ arrest Friday.
