DIGGING DEEP FOR ENDPAPERS
After spending half an hour going through the trash (by which I mean bags of cans, bottles and newspapers we’ve saved to recycle, piled up on the back porch because the snow has kept us from getting the car down the driveway), I finally retrieved the Jan. 24 Endpapers (The Book Review, “Two Minutes a Day in Another World”), not only so that I could share it with my wife but to show to others. For someone who has never looked at cartoons (I only began reading them when Trudeau went back to work--and I was disappointed), it is a revelation. I found it a wonderfully satisfying piece to read and the only thing on the subject I’ve ever seen.
