Dorothy Kurgans Goldberg, Author, Lecturer
Dorothy Kurgans Goldberg, 79, artist, author, lecturer and wife of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Arthur Goldberg. Most recently she had published “The Creative Woman,” “A Private View of Public Life” and a story for children, “Lola and the Moving Stairs.” She also recently completed the manuscript of a book soon to be published dealing with international negotiations relating to human rights under the Helsinki Accords. During her husband’s service in Washington in the 1960s as secretary of labor and as a Supreme Court justice, Mrs. Goldberg was active in helping young people train for the workplace. She sponsored remedial education for the public schools and art enrichment programs for gifted young people. Later she lectured throughout the country before community forums and university audiences on women’s issues, the individual and the United Nations. In New York City on Saturday of lung cancer.
