Monestime Signs With Montana

Marc Monestime, the record-setting running back who led Thousand Oaks High to the Coastal Conference title last fall, has signed a letter of intent with Montana.
Monestime (5-11, 185) set the Ventura County career rushing mark with 3,984 yards and gained a school-record 1,596 yards last season. He was named Ventura County Offensive Player of the Year by The Times and will play in the Shrine all-star game this summer.
Next season, three former Thousand Oaks players will play for Montana, which competes in the Division 1-AA Big Sky Conference. Mike Trevathan is a starting wide receiver and Rick Strickland, a transfer from Santa Barbara City College, is a defensive back. The three were teammates in 1985, Monestime’s sophomore year.
