Di Giorgio Corp. reported a loss of $4.6 million for 1987, contrasted with a profit of $14.3 million in 1986. Sales at the San Francisco-based firm were up 8.3% to $950 million. The company attributed the results to a writedown of its investment in TreeSweet Products Co., a former subsidiary. Di Giorgio’s is also undergoing a restructuring and share repurchase program, which began last month, and plans to dispose of several other businesses.
