Redondo 5, Alemany 3--Scott Davison struck out 11 and allowed only 5 hits as Redondo handed Alemany its first loss of the season, 5-3, to win the Westside tournament Saturday night at Redondo.
Monroe 13, Kennedy 12--The East Valley League rivals started pitchers as green as the infield grass Saturday in the third-place game of the Westside tournament, and a 3 1/2 hour, 28-hit, 25-run, 9-walk upheaval unraveled. Seventeen runs were scored in the first two innings alone.
Not surprisingly, at game’s end the score was 13-12, with Monroe staggering home victoriously. And the hero was a pitcher with just two varsity innings of experience.
The unheralded Adam Clark forced Kennedy’s 4-5-6 batters to ground out in the final inning after Gino Tagliaferri tripled to put the tying run 90 feet away.
