Jack Nicholls, an assistant coach at Warren High School in Downey, was selected from a field of 14 to be the new La Habra football coach, La Habra Principal Tom Triggs said.
Nicholls will replace Bob Rau, who left La Habra in February after six years to accept the head coaching job at Canyon.
Nicholls, who lives in Long Beach, had been an assistant at Warren for four years, serving as defensive coordinator. The La Habra position will be Nicholls’ first as a head coach.
