An 80-year-old San Fernando woman died Tuesday night when a fire engulfed her house, parts of which were filled from floor to ceiling with clothing, fire officials said.
The body of the woman, whose name was not released, was found lying in the kitchen of the house, said Jim Wells, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman. He said the fire, which took firefighters two hours to put out, started about 7:30 p.m. at 713 West Coronel St.
Wells said rooms throughout the 600-square-foot house were jammed with stacks of clothing. Firefighters have not yet determined the cause of the blaze.
