Janet Evans Lowers Own World Record in 1,500-Meter Freestyle

Janet Evans of Placentia broke her own world record in the 1,500-meter freestyle with a time of 15 minutes 52.10 seconds at the U.S. Swimming Indoor National Championships at Orlando, Fla.
Her previous record was 16:00.73.
It was Evans’ fourth victory of the meet. On Friday, she won the 400-meter freestyle in a meet-record time of 4:07.32, winning by more than 5 1/2 seconds.
