‘Seppan’
Sweden, 1987, 120 minutes, 5:35 p.m. An acutely observant child’s recollection by Agneta Fagerstrom-Olsson of life in 1961 in a rural Swedish industrial community populated by incoming workers and their families from all parts of Europe. A child’s joy exists amid the chronic tensions between nationalities. Fagerstrom-Olsson remarks: “When we were small we thought Seppan was the whole world, and we were right.” A rigorous, extraordinary film.
RECOMMENDED.
