St. Joseph Health System earlier this month formed a countywide home health service, expanding on more localized home health services previously offered by two of the system’s hospitals, St. Joseph Hospital in Orange and St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton.
St. Joseph Health System spokesman Dennis Gaschen said the new regional system is being managed by ServiceMaster, a Chicago-based firm that performs a similar role for 41 other home health agencies throughout the United States. He said the fee that ServiceMaster receives will be based on the revenue that the home health service generates.
Gaschen said the home health service offers companions and cleaning people to attend to the needs of new mothers and the elderly, as well as skilled nursing for the chronically ill.
