Library Staff

In your article “Design Center May Be Temporary Library” (Metro, April 6), you reported that 50% of the Central Library staff had been laid off. This is not true. While 50% of the staff is no longer working for the Central Library, no one has been laid off. The majority of those people were reassigned to other parts of the Los Angeles Public Library system, such as branch libraries or the Save the Books office. Few or none of their positions have been filled, so in order to reopen in a temporary location, staff will have to be added. However, this is not the result of layoffs.
