Mubarak Awad and Israel

A tiny news item in The Times on page 2 (May 1) described how Israel’s Mossad intelligence may have saved American military personnel in the Philippines from terrorists.
According to the account, an Iraqi and an Iranian were picked up outside U.S. Clark Air Base after the Mossad warned that the PLO was planning weekend attacks on American servicemen.
Neither of the detainees could produce passports or visas.
In view of the many bad raps given the Mossad, I thought it important to call this important small news story to the attention of Times readers who may have missed it when it first appeared.
