Local News in Brief : Irvine : World Affairs Council to Hear Unocal Official

Richard J. Stegemeier, president and chief executive officer of Unocal Corp., will speak before the World Affairs Council of Orange County on “Energy and the Economy: the Gathering Storm” at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday.
Another oil crisis--brought on by the OPEC nations--is possible, according to Stegemeier, who said the United States is once again importing more than 40% of its oil. Unocal, formerly Union Oil of California, is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Pacific Stock Exchange, and is one of the Fortune 500 Companies.
Stegemeier will speak at a council dinner meeting to be held at the Airport Inn, 18700 MacArthur Blvd., Irvine.
