An El Cajon bicyclist died Saturday morning after he rode into traffic and collided with a car, police said.
John Carlos Rico, 18, was pronounced dead shortly before 4 a.m. at Sharp Memorial Hospital.
El Cajon police assistant Josan Dunn said Rico was riding his bicycle about 11 p.m. Friday in the 1200 block of East Washington Avenue when witnesses saw him jump the curb, enter the roadway and glide into oncoming traffic.
She said he collided with a sedan driven by Bertram Jackson Youde, a 19-year-old El Cajon student, who was not cited.
