Ousted Haiti Leader to Visit U.S.

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — Ousted Haitian President Leslie Manigat said today he will tour the United States, the Caribbean and Europe to seek international backing for democracy in Haiti.
Manigat, who was deposed by Lt. Gen. Henri Namphy in a coup Monday, told a television interviewer that he will leave Sunday for Miami, fly to the Caribbean island of Aruba and then head to Europe. He did not list the European countries he plans to visit.
