Huntington Park : Police Seek Volunteers
The Huntington Park City Council has approved a program for volunteers to perform clerical and other tasks at the city police station.
“We hope to attract a lot of retired persons who have expertise already established,” police Capt. Martin Simonoff said. “It allows us the opportunity to benefit from their knowledge and experience.”
Residents are being recruited to answer telephones, type information into computers, take fingerprints and perform other tasks, Simonoff said. To participate, a volunteer must be able to devote 20 hours per week, he said. The program is expected to ease the load on the Police Department staff.
