U.S. Ship Rescues 6 Seamen in Gulf

MANAMA, Bahrain — A U.S. warship rescued six Greek seamen in the northern Persian Gulf after their small supply boat took on water and sank, American military officials said Wednesday.
There was no evidence that the Greek-registered ship had been attacked or hit a mine, according to a U.S. Navy spokesman. The Greek crew said the ship had suffered unspecified “internal problems.”
The guided missile cruiser Halsey rescued the crew after the supply ship, identified by shipping sources as Nada but as the Notora by the U.S. Navy, radioed a May Day distress call.
