A drifter, who Oakland police believe has left California, has been identified as a Colorado mental hospital escapee suspected of molesting children at Oakland parks, officials said. The 33-year-old suspect, who was registered as a sex offender in Alameda County under the name Theodore Benjamin Unterreiner, was born Chris Christman Jr., police said. “He knows we’re looking for him,” said a police spokesman, who described the suspect as a childlike man who befriended children by giving them toys. Christman stands 6 feet tall, but acts like a child and sometimes carries a teddy bear, police said. He has been charged with 11 molestation counts involving five boys ranging in age from 6 to 15.
