Tannery West will be sold to Wilson’s House of Suede & Leather of Los Angeles, the companies disclosed. Sale of the 28-store suede and leather clothing retail chain followed negotiations with “five or six” bidders, a Tannery West spokesman said. He declined to discuss financial details of the sale to Wilson’s, which is owned by Melville Corp., a publicly held retail conglomerate based in Harrison, N.Y. Wilson’s, founded 40 years ago in Los Angeles, had sales last year of more than $129 million, while Tannery West’s sales were in the $20-million range.
