Buddy Baker, a stock car driver, will have a blood clot on his brain removed today at Charlotte (N.C.) Memorial Hospital. The condition apparently is a result of a May crash in which Baker, 47, was involved during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Dr. Jerry Petty, a Charlotte neurosurgeon and medical adviser at the Charlotte speedway who is scheduled to perform the operation, said he is optimistic that Baker will recover fully.
