Local News in Brief : Vandal Leaves Note Chiding Optometrist

A Panorama City optometrist’s office was vandalized this weekend by someone who left a note chiding the eye doctor for leaving the back door open, Los Angeles police said.
A janitor called police Sunday after finding the note, defaced wall posters and eyeglasses strewn around the Nordhoff Street office, Sgt. Jeff Sheldon said.
“You’re pretty dumb to leave your back door open. Please in the future, don’t leave it open,” the handwritten note said. “In a world like today, you can’t trust anyone. So don’t be dumb.”
Police could not determine if anything had been stolen, Sheldon said. He declined to identify the optometrist because the doctor had not been reached.
The office was ransacked between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, Sheldon said.
The intruder used shorthand to abbreviate several words in the note, a clue police hope will lead them to the culprit, Sheldon said.
