STOCKHOLM — The value of each of the six Nobel prizes is to be raised 15% to 2.5 million Swedish crowns ($382,000), organizers said Monday.
The Nobel Foundation said the peace prize, awarded by Norway’s Parliament, will be announced Sept. 29 in Oslo.
Last year’s winner was Costa Rican President Oscar Arias Sanchez for his work in helping to formulate a peace plan for Central America.
The medical prize winner will be made public on Oct. 17, the economics award on Oct. 18 and the physics and chemistry prizes a day later.
The exact date of the announcement of the literature prize is by tradition kept secret until closer to the date. But it is always a Thursday afternoon in October.
