Truly Miserable

Trying to purchase tickets for “Les Miserables” is turning into an epic in itself.

I have made four trips to the Shubert Theatre box office to buy tickets, only to be told the only seats available are those that offer a better view of the wall than the stage.

Inspired by the musical’s advertisement in the Aug. 21 Calendar stating, “Good seats available Labor day weekend!,” I made yet another attempt to purchase tickets, this time to be informed, “There are just balcony seats, rows E and F, available.”

To date, it has cost me $3 to park my car each time I have gone to the theater box office. Meanwhile, ticket agencies I have contacted have quoted ticket prices of $125 each for a $45 seat.

It would appear that “Les Miserables” are those members of the general public trying to buy decent seats for the show who are, unfortunately, not rich and famous.
