Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc. and bond trader Michael Milken have issued wide-ranging subpoenas for evidence to defend themselves against the SEC’s massive fraud case. Notice of some of the subpoenas, filed in Manhattan federal court, reflected the investment firm’s intention to undertake an aggressive defense against the SEC civil charges stemming from the Ivan F. Boesky insider trading scandal. Those subpoenaed include investment businesses once linked to Boesky, several Manhattan art galleries once patronized by Boesky, as well as the Washington law firm of Fried, Frank, Jacobson, Harris & Shriver, which helped negotiate Boesky’s plea agreement.
