Toros Soccer Teams Defeated by USIU

Both the Cal State Dominguez Hills’ men’s and women’s soccer teams traveled to United States International University and fell by scores of 2-1 Thursday.
In the men’s game, Willie Ayala put Dominguez Hills ahead early by notching his team-leading fifth goal. USIU answered five minutes later for a first half 1-1 tie.
Thirty-seven minutes of the second half elapsed before USIU tallied the game-winner. The Toros, now 3-2 overall, got eight saves from goalie Chris Wilson and USIU, now 1-4, got two saves from Oscar Rodriguez.
The Dominguez Hills women took a page from the men’s book by jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Jeanine Charroux one minute into the game. USIU found the net twice late in the first half to take the lead and held the Lady Toros scoreless in the second half.
Lisa Gonzales had four saves for Dominguez Hills, which is now 1-2-1 overall, and Jennifer Swanson registered six saves for USIU, 2-1 overall.
