High School Football : Harvard Shuts Down L. A Baptist

L. A. Baptist was held to 35 yards total offense, 1 yard in the first half, and Harvard withstood a late surge to defeat the Knights, 14-6, in a nonleague game Saturday night at Monroe High.
Trailing, 14-0, L. A. Baptist closed the gap to within 8 points on a 3-yard run by Jeff Hampsten with 6 minutes left. The point-after was blocked.
Harvard’s Gene Kim connected with Andy Lee for a 17-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Saracens’ first score came on a 1-yard run by Jim Jun with 3:40 left in the first quarter. Marty Holly had 118 yards in 20 carries for Harvard.
