Ken Farfsing, who served as the community development director of La Verne for 8 years, has been selected as the new community development director of Downey, effective Monday.
The position had been unfilled since June, when Jim Cutts resigned to take a similar post with the city of Brea.
While heading La Verne’s Community Development Agency, Farfsing, 34, had worked on such projects as the 103-acre Light Industry Business Park and the 24-acre La Verne Town Center.
He will oversee Downey’s planning, building and safety, code enforcement and housing divisions.
City Manager Don Davis said one of Farfsing’s first projects will be to create a new General Plan for the city, which will include the development of planning and zoning guidelines.
