Houston Mayor Says She’ll Seek Fifth Term in 1989

HOUSTON — Mayor Kathy Whitmire, serving her fourth term as leader of the nation’s fourth-largest city, said she is planning to run for reelection in 1989.
Whitmire reportedly mentioned her intention Thursday in an off-hand remark at the organizational meeting of the Houston Breakfast Leadership Forum.
