Sandy Alderson, Oakland Athletics general manager, said the team has informed designated hitter Don Baylor that it is not interested in retaining his services next season.
“We’ve made offers to Rick Honeycutt and Dave Henderson and indicated we will probably not try to re-sign Don,” Alderson said before setting the club’s pre-winter meetings 40-man roster at 35 players.
Baylor, a 17-year veteran who signed with the A’s last winter, was used in a limited capacity last season. He batted .220 with 7 home runs and 34 runs batted in in 92 games. He struck out in his only plate appearance in the World Series.
