Birthday Wishes for British Hostage

BEIRUT — Family and friends of British hostage John McCarthy offered birthday wishes to the captive Saturday and appealed to his kidnapers to release him.
“John, we think about you and pray for you every day,” his father said in a signed letter published by the Beirut daily As Safir one day before the hostage’s 32nd birthday.
McCarthy’s fiancee, Jill Morrell, said: “Darling John, I just want to tell you that I love you and miss you very much . . . “
McCarthy, a journalist, was seized April 17, 1986.
