Lazers Defeat San Diego Sockers in Overtime, 6-5

Waad Hirmez scored 10:09 into overtime Thursday night as the Lazers defeated the San Diego Sockers, 6-5, in a Major Indoor Soccer League game before a crowd of 4,136 at the Forum.
The Lazers, who had lost 10 of 14 games, improved to 7-10 with their third victory over San Diego in 4 games this season. San Diego, which had a 5-game winning streak snapped, is 8-8.
The Lazers’ Fernando Clavijo, playing as the sixth attacker, sent the game into overtime when he got his own rebound and scored with 2:29 remaining.
The Sockers had taken a 5-4 lead with 7:31 remaining on a goal by Cacho.
The teams traded goals after being tied, 2-2, at halftime. Kevin Crow gave San Diego a 3-2 lead early in the third quarter, but Steve Kinsey tied it for the Lazers.
Ralf Wilhelms put the Sockers ahead again, 4-3, late in the third quarter, but the Lazers tied it on a goal by Gary Heale with 12 minutes left.
