Local News in Brief : Irvine : ‘Astounding Inventions’ Planned for Science Fair

Irvine Valley College will hold a second annual science fair featuring creations and inventions of elementary-school students in the Irvine area Saturday.
The event is free and open to adults as well as children.
Called “Astounding Inventions of the Future,” the science fair will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in the community college’s Computer Science and Technologies Building. Irvine Valley College is at the southeast corner of Jeffrey Road and Irvine Center Drive.
Activities will include a magic show and an exhibition called “Mad Chemists in Action.” College spokeswoman Wendi Ryan said visitors to the fair “will be astounded” by some of the demonstrations.
Handmade inventions by children will be judged and $600 in prizes awarded.
