Police in Prague Scatter Crowds on 6th Day of Protest

PRAGUE, Czechoslovakia — Riot police dispersed crowds that gathered Friday to hold a sixth day of demonstrations, and the government denounced calls for greater freedom.
Police threatened violence but did not use it on the would-be protesters in Wenceslas Square in central Prague that since Sunday had been the site of daily demonstrations.
The unrest marked the most sustained display of dissatisfaction with the government since the Soviet invasion in 1968.
Activist Petr Uhl of the human rights group Charter 77 said Tomas Hradilek, a spokesman for the movement, was detained Friday at work in Lipnik and Becvou in Moravia, about 180 miles east of Prague.
