Cleveland High Rout Points Up a Problem
The Cleveland High basketball victory over Canoga Park, 126-29, ranks on a level with Cheryl Miller’s 100-point game and Wilson High’s 63-0 halftime score against Lincoln (completed with numerous onsides kicks). Coach Bob Braswell indicated he wasn’t afraid to replace starters. Who would be with a magnet school permit system that has provided him with a bench far better than the starting lineup on many high school teams?
Cleveland should field a team of local youngsters (their parents pay taxes, too) and those from the busing zones that feed Cleveland.
The magnet program could also field a team and play the other schools whose major-college lineups mysteriously come from junior high schools that do not feed that school. EDMOND GUNNY
