The National Basketball Assn. on Saturday suspended Bill Laimbeer of the Detroit Pistons and Brad Daugherty of the Cleveland Cavaliers for 1 game each without pay.
Laimbeer and Daugherty fought Friday night in the fourth quarter of Cleveland’s 80-79 victory.
“The NBA will not, under any circumstances, tolerate fighting,” Rod Thorn, the NBA’s vice president of operations, said in a statement. “If an incident is serious enough, we will not hesitate to suspend those at fault.”
Laimbeer will sit out today’s game against the Sacramento Kings at Detroit to break a streak of 685 consecutive games, currently the longest in the league and fourth on the all-time list.
Daugherty will miss today’s game at Washington.
