William (Walkin’ Willie) Croker was in Santa Fe, N.M., today on the 18th day of a 76-day walk to Washington, D.C. Croker was to meet with New Mexico Gov. Garrey E. Carruthers to deliver a personal message on cancer awareness. The Hawaiian Gardens service station attendant, who lost both his parents to cancer, is attempting his second cross-country trek in less than two years to raise funds for cancer research. Next week he is due in Odessa, Tex.
